Job overview

We are seeking experienced, passionate Class Teachers to provide support throughout the school year in our Primary School section (Early Years and Junior Schools), on a flexible supply basis.

Successful candidates should ideally be UK-qualified teachers (or similar), with experience teaching children aged 3-5, 5-7, and 7-11 years - ideally within the British curriculum. Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Education and/or post-graduate teaching qualifications (e.g. PGCE/PGDE or similar). In our Early Years School we prefer applicants with Early Childhood Education certification.

Supply work requires flexible availability, sometimes at short-notice, to cover for planned or unplanned staff absences. Supply work is varied and interesting and offers an excellent opportunity to familiarise yourself with our school's curriculum & processes, and can lead to further work opportunities at the school.  Supply work is offered on a zero-hour contract basis.

Key Responsibilities 

  • To take responsibility for planning and implementing appropriate work programmes for all children in the designated class, within the framework of the National Curriculum for England and school policies to ensure that the children experience a broad, balanced, relevant, and stimulating curriculum. 
  • To access children’s progress, maintain records, and provide written reports to parents and carers in accordance with school policies.      
  • To ensure a close match between the learning experiences offered and the individual needs of the children in the class, so as to give each child an opportunity to achieve the maximum of his/her capability, providing children with opportunities to manage their own learning and become independent learners.  
  • To create a secure, happy, stimulating classroom environment, maintaining the highest standards of organization and discipline, and a high standard of display both in the classroom and in other areas of the school.  
  • To foster each child’s self-image and self-esteem and establish relationships that are based on mutual respect, and ensure that the school’s aims and objectives in relation to the curriculum, equal opportunities, and discipline are promoted in everyday classroom organization and practice.

Person specification

  • Experience in teaching/working with Early Years or Primary-aged pupils (children aged 3-6 and 6-12 years)
  • 3+ years of experience working with the English National Curriculum  (or similar)
  • UK teaching qualifications (B.Ed and/or PGCE) or higher (Junior School) 
  • Early Childhood teaching certification (Early Years School)
  • Experience teaching EAL children useful  (children aged 3-6 years)
  • Experience in and an understanding of a wide range of learning abilities  
  • Professional understanding of the educational needs of children  
  • International School experience is desirable
