Unpromoted Teacher Salary - £27,498 - £41,412 pro rata
We have a vacancy for an experienced and enthusiastic teacher within the staff team of Langholm School Campus. The post is 0.7 until the end of the academic year. The successful candidate will plan and deliver learning experiences for children and young people with barriers to learning. 0.6 will be in the Academy and 0.1 based in a nurturing environment within the campus, referred to as the Learning Zone.
Experience of working with primary and secondary aged children and young people would be advantageous.
The successful candidate would work in the Cluster identifying and assessing barriers to learning, and, in partnership with appropriate practitioners and parents, address these needs by the delivery of appropriate learning experiences. The role will address the curricular requirements of the BGE and Senior Phase. Within the Cluster we work collaboratively and the role will add to this by providing a transition programme building on good practice and adding to the existing opportunities offered to the current P7 pupils. As a cluster we are committed to providing the best educational experiences and opportunities and to also develop our young people as leaders and responsible citizens.
Candidates must have extended teaching experience and be able to demonstrate experience of working with pupils with an additional support need.
The post could be considered as a secondment with the agreement of the successful candidate’s current line manager.
Applicants for teaching posts must be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland, Clerwood House, 96 Clermiston Road, Edinburgh, EH12 6UT in the appropriate sector.
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
This is a temporary post up until August 2022.

Langholm Academy is a co-educational, non-denominational six year comprehensive secondary in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. As of the most recent inspection there were 292 students on the school roll. The school was founded in 1876, and its motto translates from Latin as ‘I give that you may give’. The current school building beside the River Esk was built in 1962, and is located adjacent to Eskdale Sports Centre and the The Buccleuch Centre for the Arts. The town of Langholm has a population of 2,400, and is known as the hometown of civil engineer Thomas Telford. As well as a secondary, Langholm Academy also has a primary school provision.
