Hurworth House are looking to recruit an outstanding Teacher to join our Teaching team!
We are looking for an ambitious, energetic and committed teacher who will expand the learning experiences of our pupils.
The successful candidate will be teaching and supporting our young people who may have autism, emotional behavioural difficulties, ADHD and associated complex needs.

The successful candidate will be a qualified teacher and ideally have experience of teaching and supporting young people within SEN, along with the following characteristics:
- Resilience – We support some of the most vulnerable children in society who have varying degrees of emotional behavioural difficulties, autism, ADHD and associated difficulties so there will be times where your resilience is challenged.
- Communication – Communicating with our young people is vital to understand their needs. Good teamwork and communication plays a key part in ensuring important information is relayed to other staff
- Organisation – You will have experience of organising, planning and teaching well-structured lessons tailored to the needs of the pupils as well as monitoring each students learning needs, adapting teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of each pupil.
- Caring – Our young people require the best care we can offer. If you are a naturally caring and compassionate person, this is the role for you.
- Attentive – No two tasks will be the same so being attentive to understand the needs of the young people we support is vital

Hurworth House is a specialist day school located near Darlington for boys and girls aged 7 to 19 years who have complex learning difficulties including behavioural, emotional and social difficulties (BESD) and autistic spectrum disorders (ASD). The young people may also have challenging behaviour as a result of their difficulties.
The newly refurbished school has been specifically designed to educate young people with complex needs and associated behaviours. Our school provides a spacious resourced environment in which young people can achieve goals, thrive and grow. Hurworth House can provide places for up to 40 young people. Placements are flexible, including extended day options, for 38 weeks of the year. Many of the young people referred to the school will have a Statement of Special Educational Need, although this is not an admission requirement.
Transportation solutions are provided for students where required within an all-inclusive fee. This ensures attendance, continuity and substantial cost benefits for service purchasers.
