Job overview

A well-qualified and enthusiastic Physical Education teacher is sought with the ability to teach both core Physical Education and GCSE (AQA). To be successful, you should also be able to coach several team sports to a high level (in particular cricket, rugby and football) and be confident to lead on away fixtures and competitions. There are also opportunities for the involvement in the wider co-curricular life of this busy school where there is an expectation that teachers contribute fully. As the school is “all through”, you may at times be needed to teach Years 1 – 6, however, the main focus will be upon students in the Senior School (KS3 & KS4). 

Candidates should also indicate any additional subjects that they are competent to teach and to which Key Stage.

Thorpe Hall School is a co-educational, non-selective, independent school located in Southend, Essex. An all-through school providing places to children aged 2-16, Thorpe Hall School was founded in 1925 and has occupied its current 11-acre site since 1989.

Set in 11 acres of semi-rural land, the school's facilities are numerous and include a state-of the art sports and events centre, a Forest School area, a theatre, an extensive sports field, a dedicated music department and a design technology area. With around 450 pupils, Thorpe Hall is a day school only and has no boarding facilities.
