We are looking for someone with expertise in TV, film and content creation, who wants to make a real difference in the community. Someone with a passion for working with young people aged 16-19, who wants to play an active role in developing the talent pipeline and production industry in our region.

We are looking for a creative, energetic teacher or industry pro to join our exceptional team in delivering our post-16 Broadcast, Film and Content course (BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Media Practice).

We are looking for a film, TV and media enthusiast, who will want to immerse themselves in academy culture. Someone who will look for opportunities to collaborate with our stage production department, and contribute to an environment and culture where students value professional behaviours, industry conventions, employability skills, and good literacy and numeracy.

The role is suitable to either an ECT, experienced teacher, or experienced industry professional. A full induction package and CPD programme is offered to help develop your teaching practice, regardless of background.

Our vision is to offer more than a purely academic curriculum. We are committed to providing our students with specific enrichment components alongside their vocational qualifications. All students will follow a vocational award and employability training with opportunities to also gain industry recognised qualifications.

We aim to ensure that our students leave BOA Stage & Screen Production ready and able to work in the industry from day one. By studying stage and screen sectors throughout their time at the Academy, students will have a wide range of opportunities to find employment, apprenticeships or enter higher education. As well as using these transferrable skills to enter broader areas of work, industry, training or higher education.

Person Spec:

Qualifications:

  • Subject-related qualification at degree-level, or advanced industry experience.
  • Teaching qualification, or experience working as a teacher, lecturer, or workshop facilitator.


Role-specific:

  • The ability to plan, teach and facilitate lessons in broadcast, film and content creation (media production).
  • Advanced knowledge and skills in the set up, and operation of media production equipment including camera, lighting, sound, and multi-cam.
  • Knowledge of the screen industry, sectors, job roles and interrelations.
  • Knowledge and skills in producing film/video through all stages of production process: (development & pre-production | production/principal photography | post-production & editing |export, delivery & publishing).
  • Competent with directing on location.

About BOA Stage and Screen Production Academy

BOA Stage & Screen Production is a brand-new, industry-led 16-19 academy, specialising in Film, TV, Online and Theatre Production.

Located near Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter, the academy opened to Year 12 students in September 2021. BOA Stage & Screen Production Academy provides an industry-led approach to developing the skills and experience of young people who are passionate about working in the technical, production, administrative and management roles associated with the stage and screen industry. We attract students from across a range of backgrounds and academic abilities who are able to demonstrate passion, enthusiasm and aptitude in their chosen pathway.
