FULL TIME

TEMPORARY MATERNITY COVER

MPR/UPR (suitable for ECT’s)

We are looking for an energetic and passionate teacher to join our English Department on a temporary basis to cover maternity leave from February 2025.

You would be expected to teach English to KS3 and KS4 as a minimum and as such previous experience of teaching GCSE English is essential.

Huntington is an 11-18 co-educational comprehensive school with a Sixth Form taking our total student numbers to approximately 1516, which includes over 300 students in the Sixth Form. Our students achieve excellent results, year-in, year-out, both at GCSE and A-level.

“The curriculum is far-reaching, diverse and exciting. The pupils at this school know what they are learning and why. Leaders have made a conscious decision that the pupils who come to Huntington receive a well-rounded education that enables them to explore subjects in great depth over extended periods. As a result, the pupils thrive.” - Ofsted Nov 2023

Our examination results for English were excellent last year with a contributing factor being our committed and outstanding team of English Teachers. We are very proud of what is on offer to students at Huntington School and during our recent Ofsted Inspection they recognised this in their report, stating that ‘Staff and pupils value reading. Sixth-form pupils support pupils who are in the earlier stages of reading. The texts that pupils engage with are appropriate and interesting. Pupils talk avidly about the characters and storylines created by authors’

For more information or an informal discussion about the role, please contact Jen Shires, Subject Leader of English: j.shires@huntington-ed.org.uk

Huntington School is committed to safeguarding the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. Enhanced DBS disclosure is required for appointment to this post.

We are unable to accept CVs in place of application forms.

We are an equal opportunities employer. If you require any additional support to enable you to make an application please contact Paula Edwards, PA to Senior Leadership Team: by email to p.edwards@huntington-ed.org.uk

Closing date: 9am, Monday 4th November 2024

Interviews will be held: Week commencing 11th November 2024.

National Research School

We are a designated an EEF/IEE Research School.  Huntington plays a crucial role in this DfE initiative and will provide colleagues with great professional development opportunities.

Research Schools aim to lead the way in the use of evidence-based practice. Through the network we share what they know about putting research into practice, and support schools in their region to make better use of evidence to inform their teaching and learning so that they really make a difference in the classroom.

Becoming a Research School is an exciting development that will help us to support teachers and school leaders in our region, and nationally, at a time of turmoil and increasingly challenging curricula and assessment. We see our role as providing support tools and training to better inform school improvement and improve student outcomes.

"The school has a well-thought-out professional development programme for staff, which is  supported effectively by the Research School. As a result, staff are experts in their subject  areas. The school ensures that staff are supported in their development and learning.  Staff apply relevant subject and pedagogical research. This benefits all pupils." - Ofsted Nov 2023
