Job overview

TEACHER OF FRENCH

REQUIRED SEPTEMBER 2024

The Norton Knatchbull School is looking for a full time Teacher of French. This is a permanent position. We welcome applicants from either selective or wide ability settings, who are keen to work with high achieving and motivated students. The successful applicant will be expected to have experience of teaching French up to and including A Level. The ability to teach Spanish to at least KS3 would be an advantage, although not a requirement.  This post is suitable for an ECT or equally a more experienced colleague looking for a new challenge. We are looking for an excellent classroom practitioner who can inspire both colleagues and students and lead by example.

The Modern Foreign Languages department at Norton Knatchbull is small yet very well resourced. We approach the teaching of languages through well-planned lessons that interweave EPI activities with explicit grammar and vocabulary instruction. We operate on a collaborative planning policy and aim to maximise student potential while ensuring that teachers retain a good work-life balance.

Students at NKS start their language learning journey in year 7 choosing between French or Spanish. They then carry on studying this language on a compulsory 5-year path all the way to GCSE as part of their Ebacc. Although still small, our A level cohorts have been growing in numbers in the last few years and it is our priority to increase the uptake.  We follow the AQA specification for GCSE and Edexcel for A level.

Please look on our website www.nks.kent.sch.uk for a Job Description and an application form.

Please send your completed application form together with a letter of application, of no more than 2 sides of A4, to Mrs C Dunton (HR Officer) cdunton@nks.kent.sch.uk

For applicants currently serving as teachers, one of the referees should be your current Headteacher or Acting Headteacher.

Deadline for applications: 9am, Thursday 13th June 2024.

Interviews will take place as soon as possible thereafter. We reserve the right to interview prior to this date depending on applications received.

NKS is committed to the Continuing Professional Development of all our staff. We support our employees in career development and respect initiative and ambition. As such we are committed to using Performance Management; formal and informal training; coaching and mentoring; and peer support to ensure the progression of our staff. In return we expect commitment and a desire to improve and excel from our colleagues.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Only candidates who are shortlisted will be contacted.
