Job overview

‘Greatness is not a function of circumstance. Greatness, it turns out, is largely a matter of conscious choice.’ - Jim Collins.

Are you looking to start your career as a Teacher of French? Then Dukeries Academy may be able to give you the opportunity you are looking for. Our MFL Faculty are looking for a Salaried Trainee Teacher of French to help inspire our students and ensure they reach their full potential.

Thank you for your interest in The Dukeries Academy (TDA) and Academy Transformation Trust (ATT). Part of our Vision at TDA is to develop ‘Our People’. Being recognised as an exceptional place to work is important to us as we aspire to attract, retain, and develop the very best leaders and staff.

Our Mission at The Dukeries Academy is to transform lives by inspiring excellence and maximising opportunities for all. As a rapidly improving Academy, at the heart of the Ollerton community, we support every student to achieve the qualifications they need to progress confidently to the next stage of learning, training, or employment. This is not all we do. To complement their qualifications, we also develop the skills and character traits, which will allow our students to become positive change makers in their own and other people’s lives.

At the Dukeries Academy, we live our values. We aspire to act with integrity, are ambitious in our purpose and are resilient in our pursuit of excellence. We are a Disability Confident Employer, at ATT we are passionate about Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and welcome all applications.

Our teacher training sets you on the path to becoming an excellent teacher. One who will inspire the next generation to succeed.

We have partnered with educational charity Ambition Institute to deliver this 12-month teacher training programme. This partnership combines expert knowledge from within our schools with Ambition’s high-quality curriculum, developed by educational experts, many of whom are former teachers with first-hand experience in the classroom.

Here are five reasons why you should join our teaching training programme:

  • Train in one school: You’ll do most of your training in The Dukeries Academy. This gives you immediate opportunities to put the theory you’ve learned into practice in a classroom, supported by teaching experts.
  • Be guided by a mentor: To ensure you’re supported throughout your training; we match you with an experienced teacher who will guide you every step of the way.
  • Benefit from blended learning: You’ll get the high-quality academic training you'd expect to get from a university combined with immersive, classroom learning.
  • Become a qualified teacher. After successfully completing the programme, you’ll achieve qualified teacher status (QTS), and a postgraduate certificate in education (PGCE) enabling you to start your career in teaching straight away.
  • Earn a decent salary. Qualified Teachers earn a starting salary of at least £30,000, with head teachers earning upwards of £120,000 in some schools. Teachers are also entitled to a substantial pension and generous holidays.

To be eligible, you will need:

  • An undergraduate bachelor's degree with honours, generally 2:2 or above, or equivalent.
  • A GCSE grade 4/C or above in English and maths, or equivalent.
  • You must have Right to Work in the UK for the duration of the training programme. Unfortunately, Ambition Institute cannot sponsor your visa.
