Job overview
Reports to: Subject Leader of Geography
Responsibilities: Teaching Geography to Years 7 to 13, Form Tutor and contributing to the extracurricular programme
The Geography Department
The Geography department is known for its high academic standards and commitment to student success. The core principle of the department is to empower students by having them apply their learning through decision-making tasks, debates, enquiry, and other critical thinking activities. We value outdoor learning and encourage students to explore their local environment and beyond, deepening their understanding of Geography in Japan and globally. Educational technologies are fully integrated, with Google Classroom and digital portfolios delivering top-quality resources and learning approaches. We consistently achieve strong examination results, averaging 75% A*-A at IGCSE and 80% A*-A at A Level, with students frequently exceeding their CAT4 data and progressing to some of the world’s top universities. The KS3 curriculum is internally developed, preparing students for KS4 and KS5, where we currently offer Cambridge IGCSE and Cambridge A Level. However, in 2025, we will transition to the IBDP for Years 12 and 13.
The role would suit an enthusiastic teacher with a passion for Geography, extensive subject knowledge to challenge all students, and experience with mixed-ability classes.
