Job overview
An extremely rare and exciting opportunity has arisen at St Wilfrid’s to join our team as a Teacher of Geography. There is the opportunity to teach A Level Geography, too. This is a permanent, full-time post.
We are seeking a colleague who can plan and deliver high-quality learning experiences for students and assess them accurately so that teaching is responsive and meets the needs of students.
As a member of our Geography team, you will be supported and challenged so that, as well as contributing to students’ success and that of the school, you are personally developed in your career.
The Geography Team is made up of three dedicated colleagues with a range of experience. Students study the AQA Geography GCSE course and the AQA Geography A Level qualification at Post-16.
St Wilfrid’s Catholic High School & Sixth-Form College is a mixed voluntary Academy for 11–18-year-olds based in North Featherstone in West Yorkshire. There are currently 1,538 students in attendance. The school opened in 1963 and has a proud history. We were judged as Good by Ofsted in November 2021; we were also judged as Good by the Diocesan Section 48 Inspection, with an Outstanding judgment for Catholic Life & Mission in April 2024.
We are proudly part of the Bishop Konstant Catholic Academy Trust, which comprises three Secondary Schools and twelve Primary Schools.
We can offer:
- A bespoke CPD programme based on career stage
- Opportunities for Secondary collaboration within both the Trust and the Diocese
- Motivated and hard-working students
- A school which is ambitious and aspirational for all

St. Wilfrid’s Catholic High School and Sixth Form College, with its distinctive Catholic identity, seeks to ensure the development of all students’ spiritual, moral and academic potential, based on its commitment to Christ and His teachings.
As a community, the school is committed to the common good, which is achieved through the fostering of a co-operative and caring ethos, both with St Wilfrid’s, parishes, family and the wider community.
Such an approach is based on the Christian principle of personal dignity and worth where each person’s rights and responsibilities are recognised and respected, and their individual talents nurtured.
These talents include the search for academic excellence within a secure learning environment, where the needs and potential of all pupils are addressed and where achievement, both individual and collective, is celebrated.
We are incredibly proud of our community, students, supportive parents, staff and governors. All of us work together to make St Wilfrid’s a safe and enjoyable place to learn.
At St Wilfrid’s we have high standards at the heart of all we do. We encourage our students to achieve the best they can across every area of school. A rich and broad curriculum provides high-quality education and a wide range of extra-curricular activities.
Our aim is for our students to be confident, caring, resilient young adults with a desire to learn and achieve the best they can, in all they do.
We welcome students of any faith or of none, but our faith has a positive influence on our approach. We are building a community of young adults who recognise and appreciate the value of each other’s company while growing in knowledge and faith. Students feel a sense of responsibility and care for others and are willing to give something of themselves for the happiness and the improvement of the broader community.
