We are a selective state grammar school with academy status situated in the small market town of Newport in rural Shropshire. It is a boy’s school with co-educational Sixth Form, although it will become co-educational in Year 7 from September 2024. There are currently about 1050 pupils on roll; approximately 100 of these are boarders. The Sixth Form has about 370 students of whom about 120 are girls.

The Department is looking to recruit an outstanding Teacher of History to join its dynamic team. The successful applicant will have a good degree in History and will be passionate about the role, and teaching of History. They should have experience of teaching GCSE and A-level, and be passionate about the subject when teaching all ages. New entrants to the profession, as well as experienced Teachers, are encouraged to apply.  We also wish to appoint someone who is interested in being involved in the wide range of extra-curricular activities that are an important part of the life of this school.

Closing date for applications is Noon, Thursday 18th May 2023, with interviews to be held week commencing 22nd May 2023.

Haberdashers' Adams (formerly Adams' Grammar School) is a co-ed selective state grammar school in the market town of Newport, Shropshire. Founded in 1656, the School welcomes boys and girls aged 11-18 as day pupils, with boarding for boys.

Entrance to the School is highly competitive. The most common points of entry are via an 11+ examination for Year 7, or following GCSE exam results. Former pupils of the school are known as Old Novaportans.
