The history department are a warm and friendly team of teachers who love their subject! We are passionate about the importance of history on the school curriculum, and how understanding of the past helps us make sense of the world we live in. We deliver a broad curriculum at Key Stage 3 looking at key events in British, European and World History. At Key Stage 4 we offer Edexcel GCSE History with options in Medicine, Elizabethan England, the American West and Weimar and Nazi Germany. We are one of the most popular options at Newfield with over half the year group choosing history for GCSE. The department runs a weekly humanities club and trips during the year.

You will have the ability to inspire and engage students using your enthusiasm for history. You would need to continue to hold high expectations of all students, regardless of ability, to ensure everyone can access the curriculum offer. As part of the department, you will need to attend department meetings and contribute to discussions and actions to continually improve our practice further.
