What makes Ridgewood School special?

At Ridgewood School we are extremely proud of our school and the high quality of education that we provide, including our popular and highly successful Sixth Form. Our school motto, ‘Prepare for the road ahead,’ represents our belief in preparing our students for their future, not only in terms of academic achievement, but also in terms of the training, enrichment and experiences which will enable them to become model citizens and responsible members of the community. Our school values: Respect-Responsibility-Resilience, underpin what we do every day and contribute to our ethos in everything we undertake as a school community. Having achieved an Ofsted ‘Good’ rating in all categories in our most recent Ofsted (December 2022), we are committed to this trajectory of success for our students as we aspire to move from ‘Good to Great.’ As part of this journey, in July 2023, we joined Leger Education Trust and look forward to collaborating with other schools within the trust to develop both our students and staff and be the very best that we can be.

We are looking to appoint a talented and enthusiastic Teacher of ICT/Business Studies/Computer Science to join our experienced team. We deliver Digital Media, Business Studies and Computer Science at KS4 and 5 as well as ICT at KS3; all subjects are popular options. We are open to applicants from any of the above subject areas. Our faculty aims to provide pupils with a real world understanding of our subjects and hands on practical knowledge. We have six discrete subject specialists and we are seeking to add to our thriving team.

The successful candidate will:

·        be a highly effective practitioner in their own classroom

·        be passionate about whole school and subject specific pedagogy

·        have a commitment to enriching students’ lives

·        be committed to continuing professional development

We offer:

·        an exceptional Behaviour for Learning policy that supports staff and students

·        a genuine commitment to manageable workload and staff wellbeing

·        access to high quality and bespoke CPD for all levels of experience and roles

·        a supportive and visible Senior Leadership Team

·        an excellent and supportive, in-house ECT induction

·        an innovative, research-led appraisal system

·        no formal graded lesson observations: instead, we operate a low-stakes, supportive, on-going coaching programme with a focus on continuous improvement
