Job overview

Since its opening in 2003 as the second 11–19 school in the now six-strong Emmanuel Schools Foundation, The King’s Academy has made exceptional provision for students in south Middlesbrough. Our vision is for each person in our schools to be valued, challenged and inspired, being ‘made in God’s image’ and therefore infinitely precious, morally responsible and gifted for a purpose.

We are looking to recruit a Teacher of Mathematics who will enthuse pupils to learn with a combination of great subject knowledge, energy and dedication.

We have high expectations for our students as they grow and develop, and all our staff provide important role models to them in terms of positive attitude, work ethic and diligence. Applications from ECTs are welcome.

The Mathematics department provides education to all students in Years 7 to 11 and to a significant proportion of our Sixth Form (roughly 40% of students engage in a Maths qualification at Key Stage 5). The department delivers GCSE and entry-level qualifications during Key Stage 4 and offers A level Mathematics and A level Further Mathematics at Key Stage 5. The department is led by the Head of Department, supported by three Key Stage Coordinators, and operates from 11 classrooms, all equipped with smart panels installed in the last year.

In this role, you will:

  • Develop schemes of work and lesson plans in line with curriculum objectives
  • Facilitate learning by establishing effective relationships with pupils
  • Maintain organised learning resources
  • Create a positive learning environment in the classroom
  • Develop and foster the appropriate skills and social abilities to enable the optimum development of children
  • Assess and record progress and prepare pupils for national tests
  • Link pupils’ knowledge to earlier learning and develop ways to encourage it further

If you believe you have the vision and commitment to work in an Academy which seeks to raise achievement, setting consistently high standards for yourself and for your students, please do contact us.
