Teacher of Mathematics and Digital Literacy Key Responsibilities

  • To ensure children are safe and well cared for at all times
  • To plan and deliver creative and engaging lessons, ensuring that children are actively learning throughout each lesson and that every child makes as much progress as possible
  • To ensure effective communication and direct the work of others, as appropriate
  • To lead CAS activities, participating and leading staff training and contributing to the establishment and development of the school community
  • To comply with our agreed policies and Aquila Ways
  • To actively engage with our school community e.g. through newsletters, informal dialogue, reporting, supporting school functions and contributing to community and marketing activities to make The Aquila School the school of choice for our community.
  • To actively participate in the performance management process of self and others

 

Person specification 

Qualifications and training 

A B.Ed or subject related degree and PGCE / PGDE or equivalent with UK QTS

The role is suitable for ECT

Experience 

A minimum of one year proven teaching experience - mathematics

Ability to teach Digital Literacy 

Three or more years teaching experience of the National Curriculum for England or IB.

Experience of teaching GCSE mathematics


Skills and knowledge 

Inspire and engage students through innovative and interactive lessons

Be responsible for the preparation, development and delivery of teaching materials and teaching programmes as appropriate

Monitoring and managing student behaviour to ensure a safe and respectful learning environment

Work effectively as a member of the Department team to improve the quality of teaching and learning

Maintain professional relationships with students, parents and colleagues

Make a positive contribution to the wider community and ethos of the school

Communicate effectively with parents with regard to students’ achievements and well-being through the use of reports, parent meetings, oral feedback etc
