Job overview
We know that exceptional teachers are in high demand which is why we are offering a recruitment and retention bonus of £2,000 for the right candidate (£1,000 payable upon joining, and £1,000 payable after 1 year's service).
Strood Academy has an exciting opportunity to appoint a talented Teacher of Maths to join us for September 2023, depending on the successful candidate's availability. Our Maths department is highly successful, comprised of 15 staff offering a wealth of knowledge and broad skill-set between them. With responsibility for teaching across all three key stages across the academy (dependent on experience and subject knowledge), our successful practitioner will be joining a committed team of experienced and Early Career Teachers (ECTs), and also be in receipt of incredibly strong and positive leadership of the faculty. We deem this to be a fantastic role and one that will enable you to work within the wider Trust and collaborate with teaching professionals in a variety of our academies. We can offer the opportunity to join a school that offers significant support for staff internally, and also benefit from support from the wider Trust on the new curriculum and raising standards.
Our Key Stage 3 classes are taught using an innovative Maths Mastery method. This is alongside the IB MYP in order to develop a deep and broad mathematical understanding within our students in preparation for their GCSE studies, which commence in Year 9. We invest heavily so that staff have ongoing access to weekly high-quality professional development and a curriculum focused on developing conceptual understanding. Our curriculum is underpinned by research on task design, variation theory, concept development and raising achievement. Full training will be available to the successful candidate.
This is a full-time, permanent role offering MPS/UPS commensurate with experience. If you have any questions, please contact Rachel Cribben (Recruitment Coordinator) at rachel.cribben@latrust.org.uk or 01634412258.
