Job overview
Required for January 2025 a knowledgeable and skilled Teacher of Music.
The successful candidate will be an outstanding practitioner or have the potential to be so with the ability to inspire young people in the study of the music curriculum.
We are ambitious for the continued development of music provision here at Shenfield High School and want to recruit colleagues with talent and passion that can communicate with the students across all phases. The department offers both GCSE Music and Music Technology at KS4 with a strong uptake of students each year. Students also have the option to continue their study of Music with A Level Music, BTEC L3 Music Performance, and A Level Music Technology, using the department Mac Suite and developing Recording Studio facilities. Embracing the use of Music Technology to enhance the Music Curriculum is therefore essential.
There is a varied, and busy extracurricular programme available to students, which includes a Wind Band, Jazz Band, Woodwind Ensemble, Guitar & Ukelele Ensemble and two Vocal Ensembles. All ensembles feature in three annual concerts performed annually. The department also works closely with the Drama Department as part of the Performance Arts Academy, which produces a large-scale production each year. The department also includes three teaching rooms, four practice rooms, and housing five Upright Pianos and two Grand Pianos.
The successful candidate will ideally continue the excellent work achieved with our Vocal Ensembles, further develop their repertoire and increase student participation.
Shenfield High School is a standalone 11-18 Academy with a comprehensive ethos and a commitment to high academic standards supported by a significant investment in pastoral care and wellbeing.
The school is conveniently located close to Shenfield mainline station on the line into London Liverpool Street and home to the eastern terminus of the new cross rail Elizabeth Line. The school’s location attracts outer fringe London allowance.
