An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the music department of Barnhill Community High School.
Barnhill is a heavily oversubscribed, high performing school that places wellbeing and quality of life at the heart of its ethos. Barnhill performs in and around the top 5% of schools in the country and was judged to be outstanding by Ofsted in February 2024. The sixth form was judged to be a very strong aspect of the school in the inspection.
Staff wellbeing
We have a very well thought of staff wellbeing offer that focusses on allowing staff to concentrate on their work without unnecessary impediment. In addition to this there is a range of supportive measures such marking from home, wellbeing events and staff celebrations.
The music department
Our Music Department at Barnhill is a dynamic and forward-thinking team dedicated to fostering creativity and musical excellence. We have two full-time specialist music teachers supported by a strong team of peripatetic staff, ensuring a broad and balanced curriculum that caters to a diverse range of musical interests and abilities.
The department boasts two dedicated music classrooms equipped with modern computers and industry-standard software, alongside a recording studio for student use. We offer eight practice rooms for individual or group rehearsals, providing a space for students to refine their skills. Our facilities and passionate staff create an environment where students can develop their musical identity and achieve their potential, whether in performance, composition, or music technology.

Pupils here show respect for all. They are polite, friendly and confident in expressing their views.
