Required for a Easter 2025 start We are looking for a female Teacher of PE to join our PE, Dance and HSC Department on a temporary basis to cover maternity leave.
COOP Academy Failsworth PE, Dance and HSC Department is widely recognised as a centre of sporting excellence both locally and nationally. The PE, Dance and HSC department plays a dominant role within Failsworth School and is highly regarded and supported by pupils, staff and parents.
The PE, Dance and HSC Department is made up of 10 full time staff, many of whom hold leadership responsibilities across the school. The department continues to grow from strength to strength and maintains its reputation as one of the leading departments within the school which celebrates outstanding examination results year on year.
At COOP Academy Failsworth we encourage our learners to understand how to learn in and through Physical Education, Dance and HSC and develop key skills that prepare them for being active, independent and responsible learners who take part in regular physical activity and understand the benefits of leading an active and healthy lifestyle.
At Key Stage 3 learners follow a broad programme of study which enables them to enjoy and achieve across a number of activities and sports throughout their 3 years in the Key Stage, preparing them fully for studies in PE, Dance and HSC at Key Stage 4. At Key Stage 4 most students are accredited through Physical Education, Dance or HSC. The department currently delivers BTEC Tech Award in Sport (PE), BTEC Tech Award in Performing Arts (Dance). Pupils can also opt to study BTEC Tech Award in Health and Social Care and CNAT Child Development.
We run a large extracurricular activities programme where students can access a wide range of sports and activities, such as Football, Netball, Dance, Trampolining, Badminton, Rugby league, Cross Country, Dodgeball, Cricket, Gym Fitness, Boxing and many more. All of these activities are designed to support student learning during curriculum time and create pathways for their sporting and physical development.
The PE, Dance and HSC Department has outstanding Teaching and Learning facilities which consist of 2 full size sports halls and one half size sports hall, dance studio, a multi-use games area, 3g full size astro turf, 2 3g pitches, 3 grass football pitches, indoor cricket nets, fitness suite, swimming pool and 3 PE classrooms. As a department we take great pride in making our curriculum a positive and successful learning experience for our students which is fun and engaging and promotes lifelong participation in sport and physical activity.
