The High School has an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and inspirational teacher to deliver engaging Philosophy, Religion and Ethics (PRE) lessons on a part time basis.

You will teach PRE lessons from Year 7 to Year 9, as well as Religious, Philosophical and Moral Issues at GCSE and A Level, enthusing your pupils and developing their understanding of the moral, spiritual and philosophical aspects of life. You will facilitate pupil progress through clear guidance and assessment, inspiring excellent attainment by delivering high standards of teaching and learning. The school is looking for a committed individual with previous PRE teaching experience at Key Stages 3 to 5 and experience of teaching at GCSE and A Level. With sound behaviour management, organisational and interpersonal skills, you will also possess previous experience of organising or participating in co-curricular activities. A good honours degree, Qualified Teacher Status, as well as excellent professional and subject knowledge is also essential.

This is a part time role working two days per week, commencing in January or April 2025.

About the Department

The Philosophy, Religion and Ethics department is currently staffed by a Head of PRE and two part-time teachers. They equip pupils with the skills they need to think for themselves, and to foster an attitude of respect and tolerance that is necessary for life in a multicultural and pluralist society.

They organise trips to places of worship, museums and arrange for pupils to participate in study days and conferences. Pupils are also encouraged to enter national competitions such as ‘Art in Heaven’ and university essay competitions throughout the year.

About the High School

They can offer a variety of benefits, such as:

  • Competitive salaries and pay progression

  • Training grants for qualifications
  • Generous pension schemes
  • Free life assurance benefit
  • A discount of up to 50% on fees for children
  • Free lunches for all staff during term time
  • Interest free loans for training, computer purchase loans and travel season ticket loans
  • A Cycle to Work scheme
