St Simon Stock Catholic School is situated in the beautiful county of Kent with easy access to London, the Channel Coast and the Continent.    We are a high attaining 11-18 comprehensive school with a full range of established and successful courses at GCSE, AS and A2.  We have an excellent reputation for our high academic standards and expectations, along with supportive pastoral care. Numbers on roll 1110 with over 240 in the Sixth Form.  Our GCSE results have been in the top 5% of the country for progress and our ALPS grade is 2 for the past two years.  

We are rated ‘Outstanding’ based on our recent Section 48 Inspection.  We experience excellent behaviour with our students and we are in the top 10% in the country for Value Added. Our 2016 OFSTED was graded ‘Good’.  

RE is central to school life and we seek to appoint a well-qualified teacher who is able to teach all key stages in this subject. The position will require the ability to teach GCSE (Edexcel A, Catholic Christianity (with Judaism) up to A2 Level (OCR – Philosophy of Religion and Religious Ethics). The post would suit either an experienced or newly qualified teacher who is a practicing Catholic or a member of another Christian denomination who is fully supportive of the school’s Catholic identity. The successful candidate will join four other full time RE specialists in a very successful department that is highly valued by students and parents.

St. Simon Stock Catholic School Founded in 1967 as a school of the Archdiocese of Southwark, the School recently celebrated 50 years of Catholic education serving Maidstone and the west of Kent. As a Catholic Comprehensive school of all abilities within a selective area, the School is known for its high standards of academic, vocational, sporting and pastoral achievements. Famous formed students include Shaun Williamson [actor], Harry Arter [Premier League footballer], David Ryan [Oxford University Golf Captain],etc.

We are an excellent school in all areas of Teaching and Learning. Our outcomes as a non selective School in a selective County [Kent] are outstanding with well above average ratings for the past three years since we have surpassed +0.5 for progress.

Location - Maidstone is 40 minutes from London by high speed train. Gatwick airport is less than an hour away from the School. Local attractions include Maidstone United Football Club [National League], Kent County Cricket, Leeds Castle, several National Trust and English Heritage places of interest are located in this part of Kent. The School has a Sports Hall and Designated 6th Form Centre, specialist Science labs [the School has a Science specialism], Technology workshops, Muga sports facility.

CPD - involves a series of twilight sessions on areas identified by staff through appraisal; electives are created from courses attended by staff to feedback to colleagues; training for new areas e.g. LGBTQ,SEN, Pupil Premium, etc. A Senior Member of Staff has the encouragement of career progression as part of their role in addition to Performance Management and CPD in order to gain a holistic overview of training.

OFSTED - Section 5-Good; Section 48-Outstanding in all categories.
