The British College of Gava (www.bcgava.com) an IB World School, near Barcelona is seeking to appoint an exceptional full-time teacher of Science who would take a lead in the school`s Education for Sustainable Development Programme, teaching KS3 Science, KS3 ESD and ESS at DP level as well as some general science. The position is for January 2025 or earlier. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of our new purpose built, expanding school with exceptional facilities.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and well organised individual with excellent subject knowledge who is able inspire pupils to learn and has a desire and willingness to teach through Years 7 to 13. Experience of IGCSE and/or IBDP would be a distinctive advantage. We introduced IBCP in September 2022 and this has a strong Sustainability Pathway element delivered through SUMAS. We are a growing school looking for potential leaders as well as excellent teachers.
The successful candidate will be a highly committed team player with the drive, energy and passion to develop this forward-looking school. Applicants must be willing to lead by example and play a full part in the school’s pastoral care with wider teacher responsibilities.

General teaching responsibilities:
- To prepare, provide and review class or subject based activities that maximize opportunities for student learning.
- To plan lessons by agreed deadlines in agreed formats and to ensure that copies of planning are available to interested parties.
- To show good subject knowledge and to share this with other staff when appropriate.
- To provide a stimulating ordered classroom environment where time and resources are used well.
- To respond promptly and constructively to pupils’ work.
- To involve students in the target setting process. To set homework that consolidates and extends classroom learning and that is based on individual need.
- To ensure the good behaviour of students and to develop within them positive attitudes towards peers, adults, property and school work.
- To maintain effective records of pupil progress and to ensure the transfer of up to date records when pupils change classes or school.
- To develop and maintain a good home-school partnership; to consult with and inform parents of the progress, attainment and attitudes of their children.
- To contribute to a whole school team approach.
Teaching Specifications:
- UK Trained with qualified teacher status - essential
- Recognised Bachelor’s degree - essential
- Recognised Masters or post graduate qualification - desired
- Secondary school teaching experience - essential
- Knowledge and understanding of English National curriculum – essential
- Knowledge of the IB programmes – desirable
- Right to work in the EU - desirable but not essential
