Our school has its own sixth form college, Sigma Sixth, with a campus in Tendring located within a short drive away drive from the school. Although, based at a different site it is very much part of the mainstream school and, for the right candidate, there is the possibility of teaching up to key stage 5 if appropriate.

Without doubt, this is an exceptionally exciting time to join our staff, the school is highly respected within the local community and is continuing to expand. We have a recent addition to the main school site; a new build with six brand new modular classrooms and a 4-court sports hall. The sixth form college is also a very modern, bright environment with excellent facilities.

Clacton County High School is part of the Sigma Trust and works closely in collaboration with the other schools within our trust family. As a result, we are innovative and always learning from each other to ensure that we deliver an exciting and progressive educational experience for our students. We continually develop and adapt our curriculum offer, improve the facilities and encourage participation in extra-curricular activities to give our students a breadth of opportunities.

Our guiding principles of ‘Higher Expectations, Raising Aspirations, Transforming Lives’ for all students and ‘Discover Yourself, Define Your Future’ for the sixth form, together with our PROUD values, permeate throughout the school and reflects the passion and drive within all staff at CCHS and our sixth form college.

We would be delighted to welcome your application if you feel inspired to be part of the CCHS experience, and have a commitment to understanding who we are, what we value and the culture we are creating. We want to recruit the best staff and invest in them believing this will lead to the best education for our students, our commitment is to both our staff and students.

About Clacton County High School

About Clacton County High School

CCHS is a large, popular and inclusive 11-19 comprehensive school that sits in the heart of our community. We operate across two sites, with colleagues teaching both at Walton Road (11-16) and our sixth form college (16-19), Sigma Sixth, based at the Tendring Education Centre.

As a school we have very high expectations of our students in terms of their academic and personal development. We strive to raise the aspirations of all our students to believe that, with hard work and commitment, there should be no barriers as to what can be achieved. We want our students to think big, dream big and become the very best version of themselves. A CCHS education transforms lives and we are very proud of our students and our community.

Our PROUD ideals permeate the school.

At CCHS students are encouraged never to give up.  They are expected to take responsibility for their actions whilst embracing the opportunities on offer. We believe that together we are stronger, developing a sense of community; school, local and global.  We teach our students the importance of community whilst accepting and respecting our differences and being open to the views and ideas of others.

Our school rules are simple, we expect every student to be: Ready, Respectful, Safe. Our behaviour policy was devised by staff and students to ensure that it supports students to make good choices and become the best version of themselves.

The curriculum at CCHS is thoughtfully considered and sequenced to ensure that all students are supported with the acquisition of knowledge and the development of skills. We aim to ensure that all students are prepared for their next steps and have a deep understanding of themselves so that when they leave us they have the academic and life skills plus the confidence to move onto highly aspirational careers and destinations.

Many of our students continue their post-16 studies at Sigma Sixth, our college. The college has around 400 enrollments and is large enough to have a genuine college feel but small enough to ensure that every student is known as an individual. There are over 30 subjects on offer to cater for the interests and aspirations of all students alongside a great enrichment programme.  The Sigma Sixth experience is designed to allow our students to self-discover where they want to go and what they want to be, they are the architects of their own futures.  The Sigma Sixth tagline of ‘Discover Yourself, Define Your Future’ reflects the entire ethos of our commitment to our students. Every year we continue to be amazed and inspired by the careers and University destinations of our college students.

At both CCHS and Sigma Sixth, we believe that our staff are the most important resource we have to deliver a holistic education. Our CPD programme is designed to nourish staff and to enable them to develop professionally and personally. Quite simply we believe that the more skilled and expert our staff are, the more effectively they can educate our students.

Safeguarding

The Sigma Trust is committed to safeguarding and protecting the children and young people that we work with. As such, all posts are subject to a safer recruitment process, including the disclosure of criminal records, online checks and other vetting checks. We ensure that we have a range of policies in place which promote safeguarding and safer working practice across our schools.
