Job overview

We wish to appoint a highly motivated and committed Science teacher to teach at all key stages. Applications are welcome from early career and more experienced teachers. Ideally we want to appoint a Physicist but would consider a Chemist or Biologist who is happy to teach GCSE Physics in the first instance.

The position is full time and permanent. Applications are welcome from early career and more experienced teachers.

The Science Department is the biggest in the school with 15 teaching staff and 3 technicians. It is a very supportive, diverse department with a range of colleagues from student teachers to very experienced teachers.

Teaching arrangements for this year are as follows:

Key Stage 3 - We follow the KS3 Activate Scheme. Our aim is to make sure that it allows for rapid progress and teaches students the skills required to be successful in Science as well as the vast amount of knowledge.

Key Stage 4 - We are following the AQA GCSE Combined Science: Trilogy and GCSE Separate Sciences specifications. Students begin these courses in year 9 after Christmas.

Key Stage 5 - Students can choose from AQA’s A-level Biology, A-Level Chemistry, A-Level Physics and Edexcel’s Level 3 BTEC in Applied Science.

The Science Department is an exciting, forward thinking department which is always at the forefront of any new initiatives. With many student teachers and new staff praising the high level of support that members of the department offer, and the very positive feedback from the students, it is a great place to work.

Trinity is a successful and friendly 11-18 mixed comprehensive school of 1700 students; this includes a Sixth Form of just over 350. We offer excellent induction, support and professional development.

Details and an application form can also be downloaded from the vacancies link on the school website www.trinity.cumbria.sch.uk

The closing date is 9.00am, Monday 25 November 2024
