Start Date:  February 2018  

We are looking for an outstanding teacher of Science to match the aspirations of our students.  The post is to cover a maternity leave for a minimum of two terms.  We are ambitious for every learner so we know we will have to match our expectations from you with the salary and opportunity for personal development.  Whether you are newly qualified, experienced, or looking for new challenges, this post will place you at the heart of a good and improving school.  If you are someone who puts students first and is prepared to go the extra mile for every one of them, then we want to hear from you.  

Hummersknott was inspected by Ofsted in October 2013.  The Academy was judged to be a ‘good’ school.  We believe we have the staff and students to rapidly improve to outstanding as Ofsted stated in their report.

Hummersknott Academy is a co-educational, non-denominational secondary school in Darlington, County Durham. At its most recent inspection there were 1,228 students aged 11-16 on the school roll.

Hummersknott Academy was founded in 1955 as a girls’ high school and converted to academy status in 2012. In 2007, the school underwent an extensive £15 million regeneration project. The area of Hummersknott is located in the west of Darlington and has a population of around 3,500. Extensive facilities at the school include a dance studio, ceramics area, recording studio, sports hall and a 3G artificial football pitch.
