TEACHER OF SCIENCE

Main Scale (Outer London)

Required for September 2025

The Royal Liberty School where “Staff know their pupils very well, and as a result, pupils are happy and safe. Pupils are polite, respectful and mature and value diversity and equality.” (OFSTED February 2024).

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Teacher of Science to join our supportive and successful faculty. All our students study Science with many of them completing Triple Science at GCSE level. Our boys are very enthusiastic about the study of this subject and take advantage of the many extra-curricular activities offered by the faculty (such as the Faraday Challenge and Lego Robotics - in both of these, teams from our school reached the regional finals). Results in Science are consistently strong and Triple Science are all close to the National average; we are very proud of this success and are looking for a new teacher to join our aspirational team.

This post would be very suitable for an Early Career Teacher (ECT) looking for their first appointment. ECTs are fully supported by an induction programme delivered by the school and the Empower Alliance.

We take a collaborative view of learning where good practice is shared through a structured INSET programme within school and across the Trust.

Royal Liberty School is a small comprehensive, 11-16, located close to Gidea Park Station. We pride ourselves on our strong Sense of community and the excellent behaviour of the students.

Our results are impressive with the majority of subjects consistently above national average;

  • Triple Science 98% in each discipline
  • English 9-4 82%
  • Maths 9-4 82%
  • English and Maths 9-4 78%

We recently celebrated our centenary (our main school building has a history dating back over four hundred years) and are proud of our traditions, our strong sense of community and the excellent behaviour of our students.  We are part of the Success for All Educational Trust with Redden Court School, Sanders School and Rise Park Academies. As an employee you will be covered by our excellent well-being support and medical cover programme through MyMedicash.

The Royal Liberty School is a popular, over-subscribed 11-16 school for boys.  We are located a short walk from Gidea Park Station on a beautiful grade II listed site.

In 2017 we joined the Success for All Educational Multi Academy Trust.  We are making extensive use of our partnership with Redden Court School to continually raise standards of teaching and learning and student outcomes.

From September 2018 we are expanding by 1 form of entry (to 5 forms) to meet the increasing demand for places.  We have received funding for an extensive refurbishment of our buildings.

We are a small school and have a strong sense of community.  Boys are proud to be a part of the school and this reflected on their excellent behaviour and eagerness to take on roles of responsibility and to represent us in the local community.

Staff and students have excellent relationships based on mutual respect.  All members of the school community are ambitious to succeed.  Students feel supported to achieve the very best they can and encouraged to develop the skills and qualities they need to be successful every stage of their life.
