The Green School is a Church of England  secondary school in Isleworth, Greater London. This co-educational academy with sixth form caters for students aged 11-18. Since 2004, The Green School has been a specialist science college.

The school was founded as a Sunday school in 1796. Its name derives from the colour of the uniform, originally donated to the girls free of charge. There are approximately 900 students at the Green School, divided into five houses named after species of tree.

How the Trust works:

The Green School for Boys and The Green School for Girls are located across the road from one another. This proximity enables close collaboration and support between the two schools whilst allowing each school to develop its distinct offer. The Trust aims to balance consistency with creativity and freedom. For example: we do have a number of policies that apply to both schools; we do not have set schemes of learning that have to be taught at the same time in the same way at both schools. Staff from both schools benefit from joint training and moderation and some staff work across both schools. There is a strong sense of "family" in the Trust amongst the staff, and as the boys' school has grown there are also an increasing number of siblings who attend both schools.

Why join us:

Working in schools is incredibly rewarding and equally exhausting! We want to support our staff in doing their job so that both they and their students flourish. Strong positive relationships and being part of a community where we support one another with the difficult things and celebrate with each other the good things means trusting and caring for one another. Our pastoral care extends to our staff as well as our students. On top of regular line management and meeting cycles Heads of School and SLT are highly visible and available to talk to. The CEO & Executive Headteacher runs a regular "headspace" open to all staff and the Trust chaplain is also available to staff.

Below are a list of practical benefits we have put in place:

An additional training day in early March to support marking and moderation

Increased departmental meeting time for planning

Two data inputs a year reduced from three

Staff laptops for teaching staff

Flexible working/part time working/job share

Tea and coffee on tap

Refreshments/lunch on Trust training days and Christmas lunch

Social events such as Quiz Night, staff BBQ, the staff Christmas party are run across both schools.

Values and vision

Our core values are: ASPIRATION | INTEGRITY | COMMUNITY

Our vision statement is:

Our intent  is to provide an aspirational  and enriching education, motivated by our Christian foundation to extend the love of God within a supportive, inclusive community, where each person is known, valued and enabled to flourish; to explore and develop their God given talents; to engage with the world of today and to build a resilient and visionary hope for tomorrow rooted in joy,  integrity, wisdom  and compassion.

The school's motto is "let your light shine" (Matthew 5:16) and The Green School for Girls provides an inclusive, values driven culture where every person matters. Career guidance, raising aspirations and preparing students  to contribute to the world around them are key themes.

Teachers aim to enrich the lives of each individual student. The  broad rich curriculum, enhanced by a varied enrichment  programme allows students to flourish. Students are encouraged to get involved in charity activities, leadership opportunities and develop responsibility for themselves and others.

Ofsted report

“Students are overwhelmingly positive about this outstanding school. Inspection findings confirm their views when they say that they learn a lot in lessons, that they are extremely well cared for and feel exceptionally safe. When students join The Green School they settle quickly into school life.”
