NUAST is a centre of Excellence in Science, Engineering and Computing/IT. We are a specialist academy teaching students aged 11-19 years old. Our aim is to ensure that young people who are passionate about STEM have opportunities to realise their maximum potential with us. We currently have over 900 students. NUAST opened as a 14-19 school in 2014 and we took our first Year 7 cohort in September 2018. NUAST is well regarded within Nottinghamshire and is over-subscribed for entry.
In Years 10 and 11, all students at the £10 million academy study the core curriculum of Maths, Science and English and then select a pathway in Engineering or ICT where they study two or three GCSE equivalent qualifications.
The academy’s post-16 students select from a broad range of subject choices that offer both specialist STEM subjects as well as broader subject choices. These include a wide range of A Levels, BTEC Level 3 Advanced Diploma in Engineering or Science and a Cambridge National Level 3 ICT/Computing Qualification plus A Level Computing. In addition, students are offered the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ).
The NUAST staff team is dedicated to ensuring that our strong and caring pastoral system encourages and supports our students to access the excellent specialised facilities and the unique opportunities available. NUAST has achieved excellent results and has firmly established a reputation for academic success.
