An exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Science specialist to join our successful Science Faculty. You will have a passion for Science and the skills to engage students across the age and ability range.
This post is offered as a one year fixed term contract to cover a maternity leave. Due to the continuing development of the faculty there may be opportunities for future permanent employment.
The successful applicant will be able to teach all of the science disciplines (Biology, Chemistry and Physics) at KS3. At GCSE, staff usually teach within their specialism. A Level teaching may be available to suitably qualified candidates. We welcome applications from experienced and Early Career Teachers (ECTs).
Science at Parmiter’s attracts a large number of students to the Sixth Form and there are 17 A Level Science teaching groups this academic year. We are proud that many of our students go on to study science-related degrees. We teach in a new, purpose-built Science block with 12 high-specification teaching laboratories and are supported by specialist technicians.
Ofsted (2024) commented that (pupils) “are active participants in their learning and consistently demonstrate high levels of focus … teachers are experts in the subjects they teach … pupils’ conduct and manners are exemplary … any disruption to learning is incredibly rare… staff are extremely positive about the support that they receive from leaders…particularly around their professional development and well-being”. The inspection included a deep dive into several subjects including Science.
Parmiter’s coordinates CPD for the Watford Partnership for Teacher Training and offers a robust induction programme. We can offer the successful candidate:

Parmiter's School relocated to the current 60 acre rural Hertfordshire site from London's East End in 1977. The site is currently undergoing a period of development and has recently opened a new £4m state of the art Science facility.
