Job overview

Do you want to genuinely make a difference to the lives of children with SEND?

Are you passionate about working with children to help them overcome barriers to learning?

Do you want to make an impact in an improving school with exciting times ahead?

Then read on!

QEGSMAT is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Teacher of SEN & Deputy SENCO to join our hardworking team at Springfield Junior School in Swadlincote.

This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside the SENCo to develop, manage and maintain the school’s provision for pupils with special educational needs. You will lead the work of the Enhanced Resource Unit, teaching our ERS pupils and supporting colleagues in helping them make progress. Pupils in our ERS will have an EHCP, so your role is incredibly important in supporting them to achieve their best futures. You will work with a small but dedicated team of teaching and non-teaching colleagues in the ERS, and with the wider staff across the school to allow our children to be successful.

You will share our passion in ensuring the curriculum offer in the ERS is bespoke, incorporates the national curriculum, as well as giving rich and rewarding opportunities to our children. You will be confident that you can monitor the progress of our children, and will be confident to liaise with staff across the school, parents and carers and wider professionals.

As a Trust we are keen to support your growth as a professional, and therefore if you are passionate about working with children with SEND, we will support you to develop confidence in the areas above, as well as undertake the National Award for SEN Co-ordination (NASENCO).

Our vision is to provide a happy, safe and stimulating environment in which children develop a thirst for knowledge and a love of learning and the self-belief that anything is possible with hard work and commitment. We want them to become respectful members of society who are equipped to make positive choices throughout their lives to be the best they can be.

We want all our children to achieve to their full potential and leave school at the end of Y6 with a great sense of pride at everything they have accomplished. As an enhanced resource school, we pride ourselves as being inclusive and we strive to ensure all our pupils have access to a creative and stimulating curriculum which motivates them and fosters a love of learning. Everyone at Springfield is valued as an individual and we constantly monitor and adapt our teaching to meet the learning needs of all our pupils.

Springfield Junior School is also a proud member of QEGSMAT. The Trust’s values are for pupils to ‘Question, Explore; Give; and Succeed’. Our exceptional staff, strong leadership, motivated children, as well as excellent facilities provide the successful formula for this.

At QEGSMAT we believe and promote that an exceptional workforce creates exceptional results; they transform lives and transform futures. We support every pupil to achieve their full potential and become a confident, resilient, and compassionate individual who can make a positive contribution to society.
