Small Group Tuition Sessions (KS2) at Lancing College Prep at Worthing

In January 2025 we are launching after school, one-hour long, small group tuition sessions open to Year 5 and 6 pupils that attend other schools. Teachers will help build children’s confidence and curriculum knowledge in Maths, English, and Science. Pupils may require extra support in the lead up to SATS or just have a passion in a particular subject area. 

The sessions will run from 4pm to 5pm, the maximum class size will be 15, and children will be provided with a healthy snack.

Job Title:                    Teacher of Small Group Tuition Sessions (KS2) (Zero Hour)

Reporting to:             Head Mistress 

 

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding teacher to lead one-hour small group tutoring sessions and who will inspire children to love learning. 

 

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Set and maintain good standards of discipline and behaviour inside and outside the classroom, encouraging the children to be kind and thoughtful. 
  • Plan, present and mark work in a professional manner and in accordance with school policies. 
  • Ensure full knowledge and compliance with school policies. 
  • Encourage children to develop lively, enquiring minds. 
  • Ensure that the children’s pastoral needs are met fully so that they feel safe and happy attending the small group tuition sessions. 
  • Encourage and maintain excellent communication with parents of the children in the group. 
  • Liaise with the Head over curricular/academic concerns regarding pupils. 
  • Liaise with the Head over pastoral and behavioural concerns regarding pupils. 
  • Liaise with the Head over concerns relating to SEN or EAL pupils. 
  • Keep up to date with educational issues and be prepared to attend in-service training as required. 
  • Be an excellent role model for the pupils. 
  • Fully support the ethos and aims of the school. 
  • Complete any other tasks which the Head reasonably requests of you. 

 

Skills and Qualifications

  • Graduate and qualified teacher (or ECT).
  • Outstanding classroom practitioner with some experience of teaching in KS2.
  • An understanding of current educational theory and practice.
  • Evidence of commitment to CPD.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organisational skills.

  • Must be a dependable and flexible team player.
  • Highly motivated, hardworking and passionate about teaching.
  • Innovative and a creative thinker.
