The Governors of this successful 11-18 Girls' Catholic Specialist Arts College wish to appoint a well-qualified and dynamic teacher of technology with a food/textiles specialism to contribute to the further development of the College.

Applications are welcome from ECTs or more experienced colleagues. A supportive induction programme is in place for all new staff.

The successful candidate will need to be:

The successful candidate will be required to teach across the age and ability range.

About St John Bosco Arts College

St John Bosco Arts College was opened in September 1983, following the reorganisation of the Catholic Schools in Liverpool. It is a Roman Catholic Comprehensive, with 1000 students from 11-18 years. There are 165 students in the Sixth Form. The Salesian Sisters are the Trustees of the College. In September 2004 the school was designated as an Arts College with specific emphasis on the Visual and Performing Arts.

In December 2021 the school received a ‘Good’ grading from Ofsted

'Pupils said that they are happy and enjoy attendingthisschool.They appreciate the calm, welcoming atmosphere that leaders and staff create.Pupils told inspectors that they feel safe and trust staff to look after them. There are warm relationships between staff and pupils.'

‘Pupils and students achieve well in different subjects because leaders and teachers hold high expectationsfortheir learning. Pupils enjoy their studies, inspired by teachers’strong subject knowledge and enthusiastic, skilful teaching. Pupils pay full attention in classroom activities and take pride in their work.’

'Pupils and students told inspectors that they value the opportunities staff give them to develop their character and social skills. Pupils and students take part in a wide range of clubs and activities,including choir, chess, reading, Mandarin, drama and sport. Students in the sixth form benefit from enrichment activities, such as driving skills and peer support.Volunteering opportunities and charity work are important features of school life. Pupils behave well around the school. They are respectful towards staff and one another. They told inspectors that the leaders and staff deal with bullying quickly and effectively.They said that they feel safe at the school.'

'Teachers know their curriculum subjects well. They plan carefully to ensure that learning activities match the aims of the curriculum. Teachers explain new knowledge clearly and check pupils’understanding regularly. They identify and address any gaps in pupils’knowledge. Teachers help pupils and students to learn from their mistakes and to improve their work. Pupils are co-operativewith staff. They behave well and work hard. Learning is rarely interrupted by low-level disruption.

A new building with state of the art facilities opened in September 2014. There is also a 3G pitch which opened in September 2016.

The college has three Deputy Headteachers, one Business Manager, five Assistant Headteachers and one Director of SJB Teacher Development Partnership who, with the Headteacher, form the Leadership Team. All staff, teaching and support, form an integral part of the college community and have a major role in the education of the students.

A strong pastoral system exists, with Form Tutors and Pupil Progress Co-ordinators. The College’s aim is to work towards the total development of each student, educating them to act as responsible Christian members of the community and this is an essential element of the Salesian ethos of the college. This Salesian ethos, based on the teaching of St John Bosco, is a very strong feature of the college.

Over the years the reputation as a caring and achieving college has grown.
