Teaching Assistant

Full Time (Term Time)

Mount House is a small school offering a highly nurturing environment in Barnet, North London. With a maximum of sixty students in each year group, it gives every student a chance to participate and shine in a whole range of academic and co-curricular areas.

Mount House has the academic focus you would expect, we encourage students to work hard, to ask for help and to be kind in all their interactions with others. We place great emphasis on the ‘all-round’ education of our students, and the creative arts, music and sport all play an important part role in school life. Pastoral care is truly exceptional at Mount House, and central in delivering that care are tutors working with small groups of students, enhanced by a supportive and enjoyably competitive House system in which all students participate.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Mount House School as a teaching assistant providing 1:1 academic support to students in different year groups. The appointment will be for the fixed purpose of providing support for students for whom Local Authority funding is received. The appointment will end when funding ceases. We welcome professionals from a special or mainstream background with experience of working with children with specific learning difficulties.

The post offers an opportunity to gain extensive and worthwhile working experience in a small independent school. The post will be particularly attractive to a graduate thinking of a career in education. The position will offer a comprehensive experience developing skills in a supportive and collegiate environment. The opportunity would provide an excellent introduction to a PGCE course.
