Summary

Longridge High School is situated on the outskirts of Longridge, a small manufacturing and market town between Preston and the Ribble Valley. We have 60+ teaching and support staff and approximately 800 pupils. The school serves the local community and has a large catchment area encompassing neighboring villages, a large rural district and many urban areas of Preston. The school was originally built in 1959, with additional accommodation added in subsequent years. School facilities have been continuously updated and refurbished.

We are looking for an outstanding, enthusiastic and creative Teaching Assistant (Level 3) with high expectations and a positive outlook to join our SEND team in raising standards for our learners. We require an organised individual to support identified pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities to enable them to access the curriculum. Knowledge of developments in education and the KS3 and KS4 National Curriculum is desirable along with good interpersonal, communication and listening skills.

Responsibilities will include supporting identified pupils in lessons; as well as planning and delivering small group interventions focussed on areas identified by the curriculum area or the SEND curriculum area. There will also be opportunities to support pupils after school in group interventions and as a supervisor of our Homework Hub. This role will also require some cover of full classes as and when needed. 

The successful candidate will have a passion for learning, for young people and have high aspirations and expectations of themselves and our pupils. They will be hard working, flexible, a great team player and also be able to use their initiative. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENco).

This is a permanent post for 32.5 hours over 5 days, and is term time only plus 5 INSET days.

The hours will be worked between 8.30am to 4.00pm with a daily unpaid hour of lunch and break times. As this is a term time position the salary is paid on a pro rata basis.
