Job overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic committed Teaching Assistant

The successful candidate will:

  • Assisting with the preparation of learning material and contributing to the delivery of learning objectives with a strong focus on behavioural management and emotional health assessment tools
  • Daily reports on learners’ progress and barriers to learning
  • Work collaboratively with members of SLT, and Student Support & Intervention Mentor to support students and their parents
  • Support students with mental health difficulties and those displaying challenging behaviour
  • Identifying the needs of individuals and groups within the school, taking note of student passports, risk assessments plans and the requirements of the SEND code of practice
  • To work alongside the Pastoral Support Manager to develop personalised programmes and small group activities to support students with SEMHD
  • Vehicle safety Checks; vehicle check sheets are available to staff using the vehicles and that they are completed to the necessary standard by all staff
  • Interaction with parents/care givers on a regular basis
  • Create displays around the school from students input making this an inclusive environment
  • Fire Safety and First Aid
  • Ensure that daily consumables are stocked up and re ordered when necessary

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Passionate champions of students with SEND
  • At least two years’ experience minimum of working in a SEND environment
  • Have strong English and Maths skills
  • Would like the opportunity to support students outside of a mainstream environment
  • Would like the opportunity to progress within the school and obtain career focused professional qualifications
  • Actively contribute to school safeguarding and welfare procedures

About Robin's Nest School

It is my pleasure to welcome you to Robin's Nest. Our school is a small specialist provision which provides education for pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs who require a smaller, more specialised intervention than can be provided in a mainstream school.

We are committed to each and every one of our pupils, providing specialist support tailored to each individual’s unique needs and helping all pupils achieve their full potential. Children often come to our school with negative perceptions of the education system, having experienced repeated rejection. We are dedicated to turning their experience of learning into a positive one

Aims:
We aim to support our students to become happy, confident, independent adults with a clear moral purpose and the ability to lead a fulfilling life. We wish all of our students to develop a passion for lifelong learning.

What sets us apart from other schools?
At Robin's Nest we work timelessly to support the holistic development of our students, while striving for excellence in academic success. We support students by recognizing strength and personal weaknesses, we then help them by removing barriers so they can then focus and be successful in their chosen path ways. We have a full pronged curriculum that allows our students to choose a wide range of experience preparing them for adult hood.

Students:
The young people that attend Robin's Nest are in KS2 and KS3 raging ages 8-13.

Area of Expertise:
The curriculum is based on the national curriculum and students learning designed by a thematic approach. All students have access to adventures activities which include mountain biking, paddle sports, canoeing, archery, horse riding and climbing.

At Robin's Nest, we are deeply committed to every pupil, offering specialized support that addresses each individual's unique needs. Our goal is to empower all our students to reach their full potential. Many children arrive with negative perceptions of the education system, often shaped by past experiences of rejection. We are dedicated to transforming their learning experience into a positive and nurturing journey, fostering a love for learning and self-belief.
