Our ASC Base is a provision which supports twelve students who are fully integrated into our mainstream school alongside their peers. These students are offered additional resources, interventions, and at times, different spaces to work in order to help them to succeed in our school.
For the Base we are looking for someone who:
- Has extensive SEN experience.
- Has experience with non-verbal students, is knowledgeable and has experience in supporting children with complex needs.
- Is confident to work with students with autism and associated difficulties.
For the Classroom we are looking for someone who:
- Is enthusiastic and dedicated, with a passion for working with pupils who require additional support with their education.
- Has experience in engaging with students who demonstrate behaviour and communication needs.
- Has a strong background in English and Maths.
(Experience of supporting students with SEND would be desirable but not essential)
Both roles involve aiding the Teacher to deliver the curriculum. You will help children and young people to understand and access activities and overcome barriers to learning., You will work with students, staff and other professionals to achieve the best outcomes for our students who have special educational needs and/or disabilities. You will play a key role in the school as we strive to further develop inclusion.
As your professional development is important to us, we offer a comprehensive package of CPD opportunities, including nationally recognised qualifications that suit all types of career progression. These are widely available, free of charge through the ALI (the Aspirations Learning Institute) at all of the Aspirations Academy schools. We also have the only Sixth Form in the Weymouth and Portland area, meaning that we have the privilege of taking children from aged 11 right through to 18, and our excellent provision ensures that they are ready for the adult world. We encourage high aspirations for all our students and every year we send students off to some of the best universities in the country.
We strive to provide high quality learning for all in an environment that is both supportive of individuals and fosters high aspirations for everyone. However, we believe that a great education is about much more than just exam results. We aspire for all of our students to have a school experience that gives them access to a wide range of extra-curricular activities. Whether it is through Sport, Drama, Art, Music, Business and careers events, school trips, languages, Ten Tors or Duke of Edinburgh adventures.
