Costello is a Good school with Outstanding features – Ofsted, Nov 2021
We’re here to educate, but more important than that is to have happy and safe young people who can flourish. Our Pastoral provision is first class and it is one of the main reasons parents choose to trust us with their children. We hope that you share the same vision for education and would like to join us to complement a team of brilliant individuals.
Our Ofsted inspection judged us as Good with Outstanding features, and said that ‘Leaders, teachers and support staff work together as a tight-knit team to meet these pupils’ pastoral and academic needs very well. Good relationships between staff and pupils ensure typically calm, respectful behaviour across the school. Pupils enjoy school and feel happy and proud to be here’’.
The successful candidate will provide effective pastoral care and support to a year group within our Pastoral Team to promote the well-being, personal development and academic progress of students within the year groups. As well has having excellent administrative and organizational skills you will be working closely with the students, promoting high standards of behaviour, and liaising with parents and external agencies. You will therefore need to be confident, proactive and have the aptitude to work independently and as part of a team.
We recognise the importance of continuing professional development and will support you in gaining qualifications in counselling/psychology/psychiatry.
Are you able to:
• Inspire and innovate?
• Nurture and develop (yourself as well as others)?
• Commit to, and raise further, high achievement and motivation?
We will offer:
• A supportive learning environment
• The opportunity to make a difference
• Local Government Pension Scheme
• The benefit of being part of a multi-academy trust offering the support of experienced colleagues across our schools and greater opportunities for career progression
Please note the daily hours outlined include a 35 minute unpaid daily lunch break.
Closing date for applications: Thursday 17th October 2024 (9.00 am).
We reserve the right to invite suitable applicants to interview prior to the application deadline.
Bohunt Education Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting welfare of children and young people and requires all staff and volunteers to share and demonstrate this commitment. We are committed to equality of opportunity for all staff and applications from individuals are encouraged regardless of age, disability, sex, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief and marriage and civil partnerships . The successful candidate will be subject to pre-employment checks, including enhanced DBS checks (including a self-disclosure form), online/social media checks and satisfactory references.
About The Costello School
Enriching Lives
At Costello we believe that every child deserves the very best education and challenge the idea that social context should be a barrier to their academic success. We exist first and foremost to improve the life chances of young people through excellent care, teaching and guidance and believe that the relationship between home and school is paramount. We are here to make sure that our students go on to be successful and happy in what whatever they do.
Who we are
Our culture is built on trust and cooperation between all stakeholders, enabling us to take risks, be honest, ask the difficult questions and support each other when necessary. As leaders of learning we do not sit back and continue to do the same things year in year out, especially if we know we could do better. We invest heavily in CPD and training and have fantastic links with other schools and professional organisations. New ideas and approaches are welcomed with open arms and coaching is used to unlock potential. We work very closely with our ‘family’ of partner schools and are currently the strategic lead for a unique teaching and learning project.
Our Location
Costello is nestled in amongst luscious rolling hills of Hampshire on the outer fringes of the vibrant county town of Basingstoke. Look one way and you have extensive shopping, culture, bars, restaurants and sport. Look the other and you are deep in the countryside with cosy village pubs, beautiful walks, rivers and lots of places to explore.
Where else can you be living the high life of the city one minute and be deep in the heart of the New Forest the next? Served by fantastic fast rail and road links to the South Coast, London and beyond, with the M3 and M4 close by, Basingstoke is the gateway to the south.
