The Role:

As a Year 5 Teacher, you will play a key role in shaping the academic and personal growth of our students. You will be responsible for delivering the curriculum in an engaging and effective manner, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to succeed. Working alongside a team of committed professionals, you will help create a positive and stimulating learning environment where all students feel supported and challenged.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver lessons in line with the UK National Curriculum for Year 5.
  • Use a variety of teaching strategies to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Regularly assess and track student progress, providing meaningful feedback.
  • Establish a classroom culture that promotes respect, inclusion, and a love of learning.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan and implement cross-curricular activities.
  • Maintain open and effective communication with parents, providing updates on student progress and well-being.


Requirements:

  • A recognized teaching qualification (e.g., Diploma or Degree in Education).
  • Experience teaching at the primary level, with a solid understanding of the developmental needs of Year 5 students.
  • Knowledge of the English National Curriculum is an advantage.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Applicants must be Ugandan citizens.

The School

Founded in 1993, Kampala International School, Uganda began as a small primary school with a curriculum based on the National Curriculum of England and Wales. KISU has evolved considerably over the years and has undertaken an ambitious programme of expansion and development. It now boasts a purpose built school with excellent sporting facilities. Despite this phenomenal growth, the School has maintained its original aims and teaching philosophy.

The Enriched Curriculum

KISU has a programme of studies based on the National Curriculum of England and Wales. French is taught to all children from Year One upwards. A programme of personal, social and health education(PSHE)  is implemented throughout the school. The curriculum has been adapted to reflect the international diversity of our school community and its location in Uganda.
