Under the direction of the Assistant Principal – Student Support and working alongside the pastoral team, you will identify and meet the needs of scholars, contributing to more effective learning through improved behaviour, attendance and wellbeing.
This is a full-time role with working hours being 40 hours per week during term time, with a residual 182.5 hours to be worked in holiday periods or as extra hours as required. There is an expectation of flexibility to be able to respond to the needs of our scholars effectively.
About You
You will need to be skilled at prioritising and managing a busy schedule, delivering a high-quality service to scholars, the school, and the Senior Leadership Team in a calm and patient manner. You will need to have experience of managing scholars’ behaviour and safeguarding young people. You will be an inspirational role model to all scholars, but particularly for those who may need additional support. You will need to work with identified groups of scholars, with barriers to learning, to improve their life chances, behaviour management and wellbeing.
There is a confidentiality component to this role and the post holder needs to hold the trust and confidence of both staff and scholars.
Experience gained within the education or welfare sector is essential, as you will need to lean on your experience to deliver the requirements of the role. Experience of working with students in a pastoral role is desirable, but not essential.
Understanding the benefit of early intervention, Multi Agency working, Safeguarding and Child Protection are essential and any formal training in CP is highly desirable. Experience of being a lead professional, writing Early Help records and attending TAC meetings would be desirable, but not essential.
The ideal candidate will have passed their GCSE English and Maths at grade C/5 or higher and will have studied to A level or Degree (although this is not essential). ICT skills including Word and Excel is essential, experience of using Arbor/CPOMS or similar systems would be an advantage.
