This new film at the Imax Theatre at Bristol, Harbourside, features the renowned performers of the stage show Stomp. Shot around the world, it also explores the diverse cultures of groups such as the American Indian Dance Theater, taiko drummers in Japan, The Timbalada drum corps in Brazil, gumboot dancers in South Africa and a flamboyant flamenco dancer in Spain.
A performer from Stomp will lead one-hour KS2-3 rhythm workshops, June 17, 18, 24, 25, July 1, 2, 8 and 9 (three sessions daily). Instruments will include brooms, poles, dustbin lids, hands and feet. Fee: pound;6 (workshop and film).

This annual event celebrates the positive contribution refugees make to the UK. Young citizens and refugees can get involved by organising an event in their school, college or local community.

The Big Opportunity and the Big Gig June 15
To mark its fifth anniversary, Youth Music is holding a symposium called the Big Opportunity in the Repertory Theatre, Birmingham, 12.30-5pm, followed by the Big Gig in the Symphony Hall, Birmingham, 7-9pm. The symposium includes talks on education and school refusers, children and young people at risk and community cohesion. Commencing with a drumming spectacular, the Big Gig includes hip-hop, indie, roots, trance, contemporary classical and traditional music from around the world. Concert tickets: pound;5 adults, symposium delegates and those aged 18 and under free.
