Since Jotter’s last attempt at Latin went embarrassingly wrong (Letters, last week), we are a touch sensitive about the latest sacrifice, but we can safely blame someone else this time.
We are indebted to Liberal Democrat MSP Ian Jenkins for his interpretation of the SNP’s education policy. Or at least a teacher pal he spoke to. It runs: “Crustum hodie in caelo est, et cras fructus conditus erit.”
Jenkins offered a translation: “Today, there is pie in the sky and tomorrow there will be jam.”
Any corrections?
