For the first time, we are staging a special lecture aimed primarily, but not exclusively, at new and student teachers.
This will take the form of a discussion involving one of Scotland’s most experienced headteachers, Gordon Mackenzie of Balwearie High in Kirkcaldy, and Jane Harrison, a newly-qualified teacher who won the George Gray award this year for the best BEd final-year thesis.
Among the leading thinkers and practitioners taking part in the festival will be Dame Marie Stubbs, the Glasgow-born head noted for turning round the London school where headteacher Philip Lawrence was murdered; Terry Dozier, former adviser to the Clinton administration in the US; and Edward de Bono, regarded as the father of “lateral thinking”.
