If you want to make Diamond Jubilee celebrations dramatic, try a theatre workshop that brings history to life through performance.
Sideways Theatre - Jubilee Experience
Sideways Theatre offers primaries a one-day workshop that turns the whole school into a Jubilee celebration. In the morning, key stage 1 pupils consider how it would feel to be Queen (or King), while KS2 pupils interact with actors playing the young, middle-aged and older Queen Elizabeth II and learn about her royal duties. They get the chance to recreate a simple coronation ceremony, develop a Christmas broadcast and write a news report about the coronation. In the afternoon there is a celebratory street party.
Altru Drama - Jubilee Play in a Day
Play in a Day is an interactive drama workshop in which pupils develop self-esteem and teamwork and time management skills while creating a performance about the Queen’s life. The fast-paced workshop gets pupils playing games, singing songs and learning facts in order to develop a show to perform to peers and parents at the end of the day. The workshops are for KS2 and a maximum of 35 pupils can take part.
