Adult education fees have risen by 10 per cent over the past year, according to a survey carried out by the National Institute of Adult and Continuing Education.
Fees are now more likely to be set by individual tuition centres rather than by local education authorities, the survey shows, and colleges work out marginally cheaper for students than LEA courses, at Pounds 1.07 an hour compared with Pounds 1.13.
