The Crichton campus in Dumfries, rocked by Glasgow University’s threat to pull out, had something to celebrate last week when the first sod was cut for a new pound;28 million Dumfries and Galloway College. It is planned to open for the 2008 academic session and cater for 6,000 students. This will create a combined further and higher education centre on one site, alongside the University of Paisley, Bell College and the Scottish Agricultural College.
