A grammar-school boy who notched up A grades in all seven of his A-levels has been named student of the year by the AQA exam board. James Shepherd (right), who went to the Colchester Royal grammar in Essex, produced the best A-level physical sciences paper of the year, beating more than 17,000 entries in physics and chemistry. James is now studying for a natural-sciences degree at Cambridge university and attributes his exam success to good teaching.
