Pupils are spending only an hour of their school lives learning about the Holocaust, according to research part-funded by the Department for Children, Schools and Families. The Holocaust Education Development Programme (HEDP) survey spoke to more than 2,000 teachers and found that despite the subject being compulsory in the national curriculum, some schools are skimming over it. Paul Salmons of HEDP said: “Some teachers are spending 20 (lessons on it), others just a single lesson.”
