The trauma of being inspected by the Office for Standards in Education is attracting interest from psychologists.
In a letter to the August edition of The Psychologist, Kim Golding clinical psychologist and parent governor, writes to drawing attention “to the psychological impact of this process on the teaching profession”. The letter describes escalating anxiety, even panic; teachers who are unable to sleep at night; and teachers who become ill.
OFSTED, she writes, is a threat to the self-esteem of the teaching profession: “psychologists should not sit back and let this happen”.
