I read with amazement the letter by Michael Cladingbowl (“Inspectors are not the enemy”, 1 March) in response to Mike Kent’s article about Ofsted. I have the advantage over both, as I am a primary head who has recently experienced an Ofsted inspection. Cladingbowl is wrong in two of his statements. From heads locally, I know that some Ofsted teams can be aggressive in their approach, and therein lies one key issue with Ofsted in that they lack consistency. Also, inspections are totally data driven. I would be interested in the scenario of Kent shadowing an Ofsted team. If this happens, can I come and watch?
