JAPAN: Pupils have been given a new chore - cleaning the school. Every pupil is involved in the 20-minute clean-up routine. However parents in Nagoya, Central Japan, have objected. One protested: “Cleaning schools should be left to the caretakers.”
But most parents and pupils support the policy. Toshio Hagiwara, 14, says:
“Knowing that we have to clean the school discourages us from messing it up.”
